Report on the 118th NSAC Annual Convention

"Spiritualism - A Sunshine State of Mind:

Illuminating the Truth"

Hello friends,

The NSAC 118th Annual Convention held from October 4 through October 8, 2010 has been completed.  This convention was a tremendous success; people from many different states were in attendance.

The hotel accommodations were excellent; with a huge mall connected to the hotel for shopping and a food court to give variety in our meals.

The Monday workshop was a success with a large number of people in attendance.  A Certificat of Completion representing 5 hours of CEUs (Continuing Education Units) was given to those who attended the entire day.  The speakers were excellent and everyone liked the day of learning.

The Monday evening banquet was a huge success; everyone enjoyed the food, the dancing and the fellowship.  We all had fun listening to the speakers, then we wiled away our evening with the wonderful music supplied by the DJ.  Everyone enjoyed dancing to the music and a few people were brave enough to sing with the karokee.  We all had a great time.

There was a feeling of harmony and peace among the delegates during the entire convention, even during the business meetings that lasted from Tuesday morning through Friday afternoon.

The surroundings and the decoration of the banquet hall and the meeting room were beautiful and contributed to the peaceful loving atmosphere.   The colors of lavender/purple and gold were reflected in the drapes used as a backdrop for the head table.  The white columns and beautiful flower decorations gave a regal atmosphere to the room. The large banner with the theme of the convention was displayed over the head table on the drapes.  The theme was "Spiritualism - A Sunshine State of Mind; Illuminating the Truth."

The music was tremendous and gave everyone a feeling of peace and love.  The morning meditation music and the opportunity to sit in meditation was enjoyed by many.  The evening music concerts varied in content with each one bringing relaxation while raising our spirits high.  The choir was a great success - the songs they sang were uplifting and the music was wonderful.  Many delegates want the music that was played and sung during the convention to take home to their own churches.

The hospitality room was wonderful.  We all enjoyed the tasty treats and the soothing atmosphere that was offered.  The "meal to go" was a favorite and gave many people the opportunity to enjoy their food without the need to hurry.

The ways and means table was a fantastic place for everyone to gather and find many treasures to take home.  The auction was fun and everyone seemed ready to bid for their favorite items.  The money collected helped to offset the cost of the convention.

The Wednesday afternoon Memorial Service was beautiful and gave everyone the opportunity to remember their loved ones in the other world.

The Thursday afternoon mini readings and aura photography were a great success and assisted in the contribution to help pay for the meeting rooms and expenses of the convention.  We could have given more mini readings if time had allowed - some people wanted to purchase multiple readings.  The tour to Gatorland was fun and those who went enjoyed the afternoon with the alligators.

Friday morning, at the "All Student Service," we had the opportunity to see our student healers and mediums serve spirit.  It makes us proud to see that we are indeed keeping the quality of those who are involved in serving spirit in the NSAC.

The evening worship service was held every night and gave an opportunity for us to receive healing and  hear sermons and messages from people we normally do not get to see.  The music for every healing service was beautiful and relaxing, the choir was outstanding and the hymns were wonderful.

The NSAC Service Clubs assembled one at a time each evening after the worship service.  The attendance for the Clubs was a little disappointing.  Business was conducted, scholarships were granted, donations were made and there was discussion of the workshop for 2011.  The idea to change the time of the club meetings was considered in order to attract more attendance.

The many different committees and reports were helpful for everyone to understand what is taking place in the NSAC.  The business was conducted with everyone keeping order in the room and giving each other consideration.

The 118th NSAC Annual Convention was indeed a great and wondeful success.

See you all next year in Buffalo, New York for the 119th NSAC Annual Convention and for the 100th Anniversary of the First Spiritualst Temple of East Aurora, East Aurora, New York.
